Back in February of this year,
there was a magnitude 6.1 earthquake
in Christchurch, New Zealand.
One blogger there,
Evie Harris,
put out a call for hearts.
Not quilts with hearts,
but for small hanging hearts,
that could be stuffed with batting.
And over the months
hearts arrived.
They didn't even need to be 'pre-stuffed',
as she had volunteers to stuff them,
so they would more easily fit into an envelope
to be mailed.
As of August 8th, she had received
4078 hearts
from all over the world.
More are still arriving.
They are currently being displayed
at the Canterbury Museum
in Christchurch.
Evie has posted some photos
of the display on her blog here.
It is an amazing display.
Be sure to check it out.
