Foto Finish - Funny

This week our suggested theme
is
Funny!

I've been thinking, sorting through photos
in my mind,
and only one kept popping up,
over and over.

So here it is...

Huh?
No pets allowed in the pet area?
WHAT?!?

I saw this in a rest area somewhere between
Evanston, Wyoming &
Gooding, Idaho.

Share some of your funniness with us

Foto Finish - Show Us Where You Live

This week we were asked to
Show Us Where You Live.

I seem to take quite a few pictures
while driving in my car,
and this is one of them.

This shot is looking north,
across the east San Gabriel Valley,
at the foothills of
the San Gabriel mountains
in February 2011.

It's especially refreshing to look at this one,
seeing as it has been from 94F to 106F
here the last few weeks!

Go on over to Cat Patches
and show us where YOU live!

Foto Finish - HOT!

I took this photo just TODAY!
It was really to show that I was getting close to all sevens on my odometer...

Then I noticed the outside temperature.

About a half-hour later my friend called me
& said it was raining at her house,
which is only about 20 miles from where I took this picture.  And on the news there were also reports of
thunderstorms with hail!
I just don't understand how it can be over 100F
and hailing!

Keep cool!

Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap 5 - DISCOVER

This is my third time participating in the
Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap.
Our theme this time was
DISCOVER.

I wandered through my photo files,
looking for some inspiration
when I came across this one:

Right away, I knew this was just what I needed!

I imported it into Word,
and added some words,
then printed it onto some cardstock.

I added a bit of selvedge
and a "hand made" charm,
then stitched around the edge.

I'll be stopping by the Post Office in the morning
and my postcard will be
winging its way to my swap partner
in New Zealand.

I'm so looking forward to receiving mine from my partner!

What is the latest thing you've discovered?

Cheers!

Cool Hanging Wallet

In July, Jake Finch, from Generation Q Magazine, was the speaker at my guild's meeting.
She also did a workshop for us, and LUCKY ME,
I was there for both!!

At guild, Jake spoke to us about the quilt publishing industry and some of the things involved with getting a quilt book published.  She also had a wonderful trunk show of quilts for us to see!

The Saturday after our meeting was Jake's workshop on the "Hanging Wallet".  I had SO MUCH fun!  We started out by making a bookmark, which let us try out the techniques we would be using on the wallet, and be able to 'tune in' our machines.

Then Jake took us through making the wallet, and she made it so easy.  She had many samples for us to look at and get ideas from.

This is the inside, with one big pocket on the right, and credit card pockets on the left top.

The wallet is really the same fabric as the bookmark, I don't know why it shows up so yellow.

Thanks again Jake!
It was fun & I actually finished something!

If you would like to make a Hanging Wallet for yourself,
Jake has made it available on the
Generation Q Magazine website!
Just click here.

Now I'm going to link up to the July New FO party

Happy Quilting!

Shhhh...it's a SECRET!

There's a wedding coming up in October,
and my friend Sara & I are working on a quilty gift.

We don't want to give it all away,
but I'm bursting to show SOMETHING, so...

here are a couple sneaky peeks!

First, there were these:

Ooooh I've got the blues!

Next came these:

Yes, I was a stripper.

Thirdly (thirdly?  is that a word?):

Hmmm...what are these?  I rarely use pins, but this pattern forced me into it.

And finally, the finished top!

Well, not exactly the finished top.
There are some pictures of the whole top,
but we're keeping that under wraps for now!

Hope you're all having a lovely summer!!
